Brendan Fraser's The Mummy: A Timeless Adventure (2026)

It's 2026, and I just watched Brendan Fraser's 'The Mummy' for the first time. My honest thoughts? It's a hilarious and irreverent adventure, starring two of the most attractive people I've ever seen. It's a relic of a bygone era in moviemaking, with a triumphant score, sizzling chemistry, and a joyful sense of adventure. Despite some silly CGI, it feels like a time capsule from the 90s. The practical effects are a delight, and the sets in Morocco are incredible. The real star is Evelyn's journey. Rachel Weisz's character is a brilliant student of Egyptian history, and she's every bit as much a hero as Rick. She's whip-smart, a quick thinker, and good in a crisis. By the end, she defeats Imhotep and turns him into a vulnerable human, making her the real victor. The movie is insensitive in its depiction of Egyptian and Arabic people, but that's for others to discuss. The CGI for Imhotep's mummy is absurd, but it's refreshing to see practical effects used sparingly. 'The Mummy' remains timeless because of Evelyn's journey and her transformation from a damsel in distress to a capable hero. It's a fun watch, and you should check it out! As for the new 'The Mummy' by Lee Cronin, it's playing in theaters, but I'd recommend sticking with the original.
