Get ready for a thrilling twist in Coronation Street! The show's star, Harriet Bibby, has dropped a major hint about the future of the dark and intense storyline involving Todd Grimshaw and his abusive boyfriend, Theo Silverton.
But here's where it gets controversial...
While Theo's true colours have been exposed to only one person so far, the late Billy Mayhew, Summer Spellman, played by Bibby, is completely unaware of the abuse her boyfriend, Todd, is enduring.
Bibby revealed in an interview with Inside Soap that she would love for her character, Summer, to step up and rescue Todd from Theo's grasp. She said, "I mean, me as Harriet, I'm thinking, 'Come on, Summer, do something!' It would be amazing to see Summer help Todd escape this toxic situation."
And this is the part most people miss...
Summer views Theo as a source of comfort, unaware of the abusive dynamic between him and Todd. Todd, on the other hand, is very conscious of this and wants to protect Summer, knowing she's been through enough already.
So, the question remains: How long will Todd remain trapped under Theo's coercive control?
Coronation Street is tackling this sensitive topic with support from Galop, an LGBTQ+ anti-abuse charity.
